You can put together magical combinations which will
attract special guests and earn you a reputation to be
remembered.
Possible additions to your Peaceful World Center:
A Youth Hostel can be a place where volunteers from
other cultures can stay while helping work on your companion
project and learn local culture, skills and language.
A Restaurant is a great way to foster community. Some
Centers may even want to be primarily a restaurant, serving
organic foods, vegetarian dishes and local specialties.
A store can offer crafts from the area and even basic
items which people from the local community might need.
Books, quilts, geological or other indigenous artifacts,
posters or pictures of local interest and many other items
can connect your guests to the local culture as well as
support the local communities.
Classes and exchanges about the Center's Project,
meeting space for conferences, video screenings, lectures
and parties.
A Library can feature books, videos, tapes and
computers for use by guests and neighbors.
A health or retreat center is a wonderful way to
encourage a place of wellness and bring people together
Tours and outings within the Center and in its environs will
not only teach guests interesting and important things about
the place that they are staying, but it will connect and
inspire them to get more intimately involved with the local
area and/or companion projects.
Exchanges Some travelers may be guest speakers,
teachers or volunteers who can share their talents. Peaceful
World Centers can exchange information and make connections
with each other and with the worldwide public in order to
actively create a sense of belonging to the larger Peaceful
World Travel Community.
Gardens Some of us grow organic foods. Our gardens
can become a nursery for others to grow produce and plant
trees, and guests can be encouraged to lend a helping hand.
Promotion and publicity We work with travel guides,
(electronic and print), and travel magazines, as well as
fair trade, peace, environmental and social change
organizations. We will connect with local businesses,
travelers and other b&bs to encourage eco-travel and
socially responsible tourism.
